To win, Democrats need to redefine "community" and ax the alphabet club.
It was the nation’s first openly gay Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, who gave the keys to the castle to Elon Musk that has Democrats in a panic. You might think LGBTQ activist groups would have something to say about this, but alas its crickets from the clique in charge of brand management for the Democratic Party.
Gia Drew is the the darling of Maine’s alphabet elites and Executive Director of Equality Maine. Does she agree with Bessent’s decision to allow the Department of Government Efficiency access to a payment system that distributes trillions of dollars in entitlement benefits, grants and tax refunds to Americans each year because he is gay? Or is she outraged the government website that describes the new Treasury Secretary’s duties misgenders him?
The Democrats need to get with the times. The Obergefell decision of the Supreme Court granting the right to marry regardless of sex eliminates the need to label yourself by who you prefer to have sex with. You’re bisexual? Good for you. Who do you love?
Everyone in America is either single or married, regardless of sex. Married people are families, and many families raise kids. If Democrats want to be the party that fights for family values, it should shed the mantle of gender warrior and cut the umbilical cord with groups that define “community” by age, race and sexual orientation.
Healthy communities have shared values and experiences. Members are defined by their relation to others and contributions. Your community is where you live. Your neighborhood. Your church. Your place of employment.
Maybe you do not believe in social contagion. Maybe you think impressionable kids are immune to the quackery of “trans medicine” pushed as an elixir to the angst of adolescence. Maybe you trust Big Pharma and the medical industrial complex to have your family’s best interest at heart. Most people do not, especially parents, and Democrats should not cower to the bullies who insist allegiance to an ideology grounded in surgery and drugs, or the lie that “trans women are women.”
The maelstrom that is Trump 47 begs the question, what are American values? Who is going to protect kids from white supremacist militias on the right and the gender snake oil pushed by extremists on the left?
When 68% of Maine 4th graders can’t read, there’s a bill pending in Augusta sponsored by a Democrat that if passed will require education about the LGBTQ “community.”
What’s the lesson? If you are a girl and marry a girl you are in the community, but if you are a girl and marry a boy, you are not? How is that progress? How is that inclusive? How is that equality? Are parents part of the community? Should there be a separate table at family holidays?
Communities are about all the kids and their families. Healthy communities are inclusive and not based on sexual orientation. That’s the American way. The sooner Democrats realize that, the better.
