Another Gender Bender in Maine
Groups produce group think that leads to mass hysteria. Look what happened to the Salem witches at the hands of the Puritans.
Heresy today for leftist purists is any challenge to the transgender ideology that equates women and transgender women. A new law passed by Democrats in Augusta along strict party lines makes access to “gender-affirming health care services” a legal right, along with abortion.
Transgenderism is caused by gender dysphoria, we are told, a medical condition and DSM-5 diagnosis.
My crime? Rejecting the utility of labels and quackery of transgender medicine for children. I think it’s absurd an 18 year-old living in their parents’ basement, on their insurance, has a legal right to a chest binder while dear old dad has no rights to hearing aides or eye glasses.
Other new laws passed by gender maniacs erase women all together. Take Maine’s statute to protect pregnant workers. The word “woman” is erased and substituted with “person” because, you know, there might be trans men who get pregnant.
As if it’s perfectly normal for a woman to have a legal right to identify as a man while pregnant, and expect hospitals provide “gender affirming care” at taxpayer’s expense.
I’m not a doctor, but in my view any woman identifying as a man while giving birth should think seriously about whether parenting is a good choice. Our laws should not support children being born into this chaos.
Another law in Maine that seeks gender parity on corporate boards defines “female” as anyone who self-identifies as a woman, without regard to sex. So to diversify corporate boards we require more women, and that includes men who express themselves as women? What a meaningless gender loophole.
The kicker is the proposed “equal rights amendment” that will codify in Maine’s Constitution “gender expression” and “gender identity” and erase women altogether in the eyes of the law as distinct from men. Remember when the ERA was on the basis of sex?
Mandating society to equate women to men with gender dysphoria is unfair to women. It is identity theft. “She who shall not be named.”
There will be no women or girls’ sports teams if the newly worded so-called equal rights amendment passes. No safe same-sex spaces for women like prisons and shelters.
You are a witch under the wet blanket of today’s gender orthodoxy for wanting to protect kids from labels, surgery and puberty blockers, or question the credentials of the “World Professional Association for Transgender Health.”
And you are a bitch if you express that privileged American kids don’t deserve a trophy for induction into the rainbow club. Kids deserve a childhood free from gender ideology and pressure to “come out” in middle school.
Kids deserve to be loved and told the truth: They are beautiful just the way they are. The sky is the limit on self-expression.
Under today’s gender orthodoxy - women are not real. It’s a label that can be stuck on anyone like a bright orange price tag. And people wonder why so many kids these days are depressed! They’ve been scammed. The rainbow club with all its glitter and promise is like a fad diet. Oversold. Growing up is hard no matter what.
I support equal rights for transgender people and the right to be free from discrimination, express whatever their heart desires, and pursue the American Dream of happiness and prosperity. But things have gone too far. Equal rights are not special rights, and women are not men with a disorder. People with cancer don’t have rights to chemotherapy. Medical intervention for gender dysphoria should be consistent with all other medical intervention.
It’s radical for a woman today in the Democratic Party to stand up for women and kids, and “progress” that a handful of men can define us to include them.
As if being a woman is fungible and not a divine and mystical connection to the universe.
As if two X chromosomes are not enough.
Women are real and have a right to be defined in law as separate from men. That’s not radical.
“Trans women are women” and the earth is flat.
Speaking up for women and girls is speaking truth to power. I know because I am a witch.
Trans women are trans women. And we love them.
