On Friday July 16, 2021 Cape Elizabeth Town Councilor and businesswoman Penny Jordan was a call-in guest to talk about the so-called “affordable housing” project proposed in the new commercial development off the town green. In weighing the public interest it’s tough doing a cost-benefit analysis when you don’t know the costs. And clearly we don’t have the foggiest notion how much money is at stake. DISCLOSURE; My family owns a lot also located in the Town Center zone a stone’s throw away from the project that’s a mixed-use building and I oppose the project because it violates our zoning ordinances and comprehensive Plan in order for private corporations to make a profit and will degrade the community.. In sum, it’s a Wall Street heist dressed-up as a progressive cause.
